Tharani Balchandran

“I really loved spending time with my host family, playing with the children and learning first-hand about Ghanaian culture from my host mother. It was also a great experience to learn more about Ghanaian law from conversations with local judges. I learned to keep an open mind at all times, to be grateful for the amazing opportunity to learn about the law in a diverse setting and experience such a rich culture, and not to get frustrated if things didn’t always turn out the way I expected. I discovered that there are many different ways and forms to learn about the law, not necessarily in a classroom or courtroom. I learned a lot about family and property law just by spending time with my host family and my host mother’s friends.”
